art direction, content and copy for bad attitude (2018)

Bad Attitude is a magazine series researched and produced by myself exploring how the design, visibility and nature of the few remaining safe spaces encourage and facilitate casual alcoholism in the queer community. The publications speculate on how design can influence and build more flexible and adaptive spaces for the queer community that promote healthier attitudes to alcohol use.

The series was divided into four separate publications, each with unique contributions and commissions from members of the queer community in London and abroad. Not only was this intended to raise awareness about the effects of the remaining safe spaces on alcoholism, but also to encourage community-oriented solutions through better and more inclusive design that were reflective of and created by the lived experiences faced by queer people in cities. The publications were produced through a variety of academic research, personal interviews and community surveys, and curated existed content that was brought together under a cohesive purpose and identity created by myself.
